Supervisor, Physical Security (Armed), Albuquerque, NMThe Armed Physical Security Supervisor oversees all armed security operations during an assigned shift at Castelion's New Mexico installation. This position ensures compliance with DoD, federal, and site-specific armed security regulations; supervises armed security personnel (proprietary and/or contracted); maintains weapons accountability; and leads incident response to protect personnel, information, and critical assets.
The ideal candidate has a background in physical security or law enforcement with deep expertise in providing asset, facility, and personnel protection at aerospace, defense, or government facilities. The Supervisor enforces security policies, conducts risk assessments, executes the organizations incident response plans, coordinates with local law enforcement, monitors and manages local CCTV and access control systems, and develops site security awareness training.
This role is critical in safeguarding the company’s people and technology. They will also monitor internal controls, track remediation efforts, and help align teams with regulatory and contractual requirements. Ideal candidates have a strong understanding of sensitive technology (ITAR/CUI), excellent communication skills, and experience managing security programs in fast‑paced environments.
Duties & Responsibilities Armed Security Operations:
- Supervise armed guard force on duty during shift and ensure all personnel adhere to Use of Force (UoF) policy, weapons safety rules, and DoD requirements.
- Carry a loaded duty weapon while performing security duties; remain weapons‑qualified at all times.
- Oversee access control, armed patrols, vehicle inspections, secure area checks, and Quick Reaction Force (QRF) activation when required.
- Ensure proper issuance, tracking, clearing, and turn‑in of firearms, ammunition, and protective equipment.
- Respond to alarms, threats, and security breaches as an armed responder; lead initial incident command until relieved by higher authority.
- Conduct weapons safety briefings, UoF reinforcement training, and immediate corrective actions for weapons‑handling violations.
- Direct and evaluate the performance of armed security officers on shift.
- Verify compliance with post orders, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and DoD directives.
- Manage coordination with contracted guard company for scheduling, assignments, and readiness of armed personnel.
- Train team members on emergency procedures, escalation protocols, and DoD security compliance.
- Prepare incident reports, UoF statements, weapons clearing logs, and daily activity logs.
- Document all weapons and ammunition issuance and reconcile shift‑level armory records.
- Submit after‑action reports for incidents involving weapons presentation or UoF.
- Coordinate with Director of Security, fire/rescue, and state and local law enforcement.
- Maintain compliance with:
- DoD 5210.56 (Arming & Use of Force)
- Installation security directives
- Contractor requirements (e.g., DoD contract security standards)
- Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance
- Must maintain eligibility for continued access to restricted areas
Qualifications:
- Meet DoD arming requirements, including:
- Firearms qualification on assigned weapon system (e.g., 9mm pistol, .40, or 5.56 rifle depending on contract)
- Completion of weapons safety training, use‑of‑force training, and judgmental shooting
- Ability to qualify at least semi‑annually (or per contract)
- 7+ years of armed security, military, or law enforcement experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory or team‑lead experience preferred.
- Experience working on federal or DoD installations strongly preferred.
