Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the safety and security of Albuquerque Convention Center facilities and patrons, employees, and assets.
- Maintain twenty‑four (24) hour security of the interior and exterior of the building.
- Provide security services for assigned facilities and conduct periodic patrols by foot, ensuring only authorized personnel are on facility grounds.
- Lock and unlock facility doors as directed and regulate the flow of employees and the public on premises to ensure safety.
- Respond to calls for service and reports of crimes in progress; call emergency services (police, medical, or fire) as needed and assist outside agencies.
- Conduct preliminary investigations to determine if a crime has been committed, evaluate further action, document incidents, and prepare reports.
- Perform periodic fire and safety hazard inspections of facilities and develop recommendations for enhancing security precautions.
- Monitor and operate computers, CCTV, and Fire Alarm Panels. Dispatch security via radio, answer telephones, maintain a 24‑hour incident log, and notify the chain of command for serious matters.
- Provide general assistance to the public; receive and document lost and found articles and resolve inquiries.
- Prepare various reports regarding security enforcement activities.
- Collect parking fees, charging customers accordingly and providing information about parking options. Respond to complaints or forward them to appropriate staff.
- Provide security of the ACC parking structure, monitor occupancy, and offer alternate parking locations if necessary.
- Maintain and clean surrounding work areas.
- Interact with ACC patrons, vendors, and employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conduct bag searches and use wand/metal detectors for all entrants to the facility.
- Complete all assigned tasks within the guidelines and deadlines set by the Director of Security & Parking and comply with department performance, conduct, and attendance standards.
- Adhere to the Security department’s prime directives, perform related duties, and maintain compliance with all legal and ethical instructions from the Director.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current valid New Mexico Guard Card at the appropriate level, or obtain the NM Guard Card within 3 months of employment.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent verbal communication in English.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and operate two‑way radio.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Principles and practices of security procedures.
- Principles and practices of fire safety and evacuation procedures.
- Exceptional customer service habits.
- Verbal de‑escalation concepts.
- Methods and techniques of two‑way radio communication.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping and basic report preparation.
- Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Safe work practices.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors, in inclement weather.
- Exposure to loud environments and potentially hostile individuals.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing stairs, walking, running, kneeling, and light carrying for prolonged periods.
