SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Director of Security & Surveillance, the Security Officer Level III is a uniformed and armed position responsible for providing security services to a specific security location/site. This position requires a minimum of state issued Level III Security Guard license. The Security Officer Level III encompasses a higher level of responsibility, including armed security duties, advanced conflict resolution, and incident response.
Security Officer Level III must deliver critical safety and security services in a business-oriented, courteous, customer service, and in a professional manner. Security Officers Level III is responsible for enforcing the laws, rules, and regulations under the Santa Clara Development Corporation, Federal, State, and Tribal government codes. Responsibilities include securing assigned areas, conducting detailed investigations, collecting evidence, and preparing timely and accurate reports.
Duties involve crime prevention, responding to emergencies, use of force when necessary, testifying in court proceedings, and ensuring the protection of life and property. Security Officer Level III may be assigned to specialized assignments and high-risk locations/sites that require armed security and a greater level of responsibility. The Security Officer Level III also collaborates, initiates, and supports opportunities with other functions by championing the goals and priorities of the Santa Clara Development Corporation in a manner that faithfully reflects and upholds its mission, vision, and values.
CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS
- Any Kha’P’o Security Services personnel operating under a contract with Santa Clara Development Corporation (SCDC) is required to follow the job description set forth and outlined below by SCDC. The SCDC Human Resources is responsible for ensuring that all contracted employees understand their duties and responsibilities at this location. Each Security Officer, whether employed directly by SCDC or through a contracted company must review this job description, sign it, and submit it to Human Resources prior to performing duties.
Essentials include but are not limited to the following:
- Must be certified through the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department (RLD) standardized training curriculum for Level III Security Officers.
- Required to carry approved Level III security equipment, including but not limited to a firearm, tactical vest, chemical agents, baton, handcuffs, and other defensive tools.
- Provides armed security services to patrol assigned areas, observe premises, and deter criminal activity while adhering to applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
- Protects designated areas, including employees, guests, assets, facilities, and operations, through diligent patrol and monitoring.
- Responds to emergency calls such as intrusions, disturbances, fires, medical incidents, and active threats; takes immediate action to control the situation, provide first aid if necessary, and coordinate with law enforcement.
- Engages in crisis intervention and conflict resolution, ensuring de-escalation techniques are applied to minimize risk.
- Utilizes multiple communication systems to coordinate emergency response and relay critical information to law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel.
- Conducts thorough investigations, gathers evidence, and prepares detailed reports to support legal proceedings and internal reviews.
- Performs crowd control duties during special events or emergencies, ensuring safe pedestrian and vehicle movement.
- Monitors surveillance systems and alarm systems to detect suspicious activity and mitigate potential threats.
- Conducts access control measures at high-security areas, verifying credentials and preventing unauthorized access.
