Summary

Ahtna Logistics, LLC has a requirement for Guard services at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The Captain of Guards (COG) is responsible for managing the operational security force programs to provide a daily deterrent against unauthorized, illegal, or potentially life‑threatening activities toward government employees, visitors, information programs, facilities, and property. The COG shall supervise all personnel required to perform the security guard services as stated in this PWS and shall at all times be responsible to the COR for the operational functions and duties required in the performance of this contract.

This position is located at the northern end of White Sands Missile Range at the Stallion Gate entrance, 12 miles east of San Antonio, NM on Highway 380.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the Contract Guard Force to provide facility, grounds, and personnel protection and crime deterrence, including the continual use of the security systems on site and in accordance with Army Regulation 190‑56.
  • Ensure the Contract Security Officers remain alert, knowledgeable, and react to suspicious or dangerous activity with a high level of urgency.
  • Provide the client with thorough, accurate information and all required reports as directed.
  • Remain available to respond to site problems twenty‑four hours a day, seven days a week and, as necessary, perform special mission duties.
  • Act as the primary liaison for the specific contract sites.
  • Direct Supervisor of all supervisors and officers assigned to the client's operations.
  • Primary Manager responsible in the selection of officers to be assigned to WSMR security operations.
  • Hiring/Firing authority rests with the COG while daily supervision, counseling, and suspension authority can be delegated to the subordinate supervisors reporting to the COG.
  • Ensure that all posts and special missions are staffed as required on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate daily activities and special missions with clients’ representatives.
  • Coordinate issue and maintenance of uniforms and supplies for assigned officers.
  • Handle the scheduling of all client directed posts, shifts, and special missions. Initiate and maintain records of all activities related to security.
  • Act as the Company’s key person or Site Representative in the Quality Control Plan.
  • Responsible for ensuring all assigned officers receive the necessary training.
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Manager.
Supervision

Yes, responsible for supervision of 32 employees assigned to the WSMR contract.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • At least 3 years in security or law enforcement administration and operations in the Armed Forces, military security police, or civilian security operations.
  • Experience supervising a comparable civilian law enforcement/police force, military police force, or civilian security guard force.
  • Driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Familiar with all regulations, policies, procedures, and directives related to the contract, and have the management and communication skills to effectively oversee the requirements of the contract.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Must be able to be certified into the Individual Reliability Program and meet all other requirements as required under AR 190‑56, AR 380‑67, and AR 600‑85 (most current versions).
  • Must be able to successfully complete an annual Physical Assessment Test.
  • Must be physically fit and complete an annual medical examination/physical.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and be subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to qualify with their assigned weapons semiannually.
  • Must possess sufficient hand‑eye coordination and training to safely handle, operate, shoot, maintain, and qualify with an assigned weapon, plus assorted associated equipment such as handcuffs, nightsticks, and/or pepper…
