We are seeking a SECURITY POLICE OFFICER I.
Rate of Pay: $32.74 - 35.54 per hour.
Responsibilities- Observe, assess, report, and respond to alarms on Sandia National Labs property.
- Follow General Orders, procedures, and post orders.
- Maintain routine records, operate communications equipment and motor vehicles.
- Control access into secure areas and vehicle access based on site‑specific security requirements.
- Perform Security Command Center duties as needed, responding to alarms and dispatching patrols.
- Act as first responder to medical emergencies.
- Treat security incidents to ensure best possible outcomes.
- Pass and maintain applicable physical standards and certifications required for the role.
- Perform any additional activities defined by site‑specific requirements.
- DOE Q‑level security clearance or Department of Defense Top Secret.
- TRF
100 (SPO‑I) Tactical Response Force I certification at start. - U.S. citizenship and current driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOE‑Q level security clearance.
- Pass and maintain medical, physical, and psychological standards as described in 10 CFR 1046.
- Pass and maintain fitness and firearm requirements and all applicable trainings and assessments identified in DOE Orders.
- Wear personal protective equipment weighing in excess of 17 lbs for extended periods.
- Work at night and meet visual acuity standards per 10 CFR 1046.
- Perform in high‑risk environments, following detailed procedures with accuracy in documentation.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Work flexible hours, overtime, and rotate duty and schedules as assigned; current schedule is twelve‑hour shifts.
- Stand, walk, sit, lift, and carry objects up to 50 pounds; perform push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle tasks.
- Run ½ mile in 4 min 40 sec and complete a 40‑yard dash from a prone position in 8.5 sec.
- Meet and maintain fitness and firearm requirements, participate in DOE‑approved Physical Maintenance Training Program, and demonstrate continued fitness during inspections and audits.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- In‑depth knowledge of DOE Orders, safeguards, security standards, ES&H requirements, and regulations.
- Four‑year college degree in a relevant discipline.
Position requires a DOE Q security clearance to start, or an equivalent active security clearance from another U.S. government agency. Sandia conducts a pre‑employment drug test and background review, including checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
