The Construction & Maintenance Tech position pays between $46,483 to $58,104 and the Senior Construction & Maintenance Tech position pays between $53,592 and $66,990. Placement is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate. This pay range is composed of a current base pay range of $43,040 to $53,800 for the Construction & Mainternance Tech with 8% supplemental pay, and $48,720 to $60,900 for the Senior Construction & Maintenance Tech with 10% supplemental pay, which is administered in accordance with NMGC’s Supplemental Pay Policy.

The successful candidate must live within 30 minutes of the Albuquerque Gas Service Center.

You will find the workday interesting as you provide labor support for construction, maintenance, installation and emergency response on our gas distribution/transmission lines.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare job sites for safe operation
  • Frequent work around live gas mains and services performing taps, stop-offs, or tie-ins.
  • Excavate site using manual tools, excavating machinery, and shoring following all safety procedures
  • Installation and maintenance of steel pipe or non-steel systems Polyethylene (PE) plastic pipe utilizing heat fusion/electrofusion.
  • Perform various safety tests, including pressure tests, on gas pipelines.
  • Operate and perform preventative and corrective inspections on company vehicles and equipment.
  • Senior Level: Entry Level Duties Plus Additional Responsibilities

Successful Candidate Must Have:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Construction & Maintenance Tech: 0 years of experience and the ability to obtain and maintain a New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 1 year of hire through company-provided paid training
  • Sr. Construction & Maintenance Tech: 2 years of experience, a CDL, and Journeyman Gas Fitter’s License (JGL) dependent on location
  • Preferences:
    Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Working Conditions
Construction and/or field environment. May be required to work overtime and/or be on-call. Will be exposed year-round to outside weather conditions. Work often involves exposure to extreme heat and cold, uneven terrain, high-pressure natural gas, blowing gas, and gas fumes. Personal protective equipment required, including but not limited to, safety glasses, puncture resistance boots, hard hat, respirator, and SCBA. Regularly required to stand and walk with the ability to bend, twist, balance, and climb frequently.

Occasionally sit to drive vehicles and operate heavy equipment. Manual dexterity is required to lift, carry and/or maneuver up to 80 pounds by reaching, handling, kneeling, and/or crouching.
