Overview
SMS is looking for a Telephone Systems ISP Technician on the Kirtland AFB C4 Contract in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Inside Plant Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance and performance of telephone equipment and ancillary system. The job requires sitting for extended periods, occasional heavy lifting, travel to remote sites and customer sites around the installation, as well as an IAT III certification (CompTIA A+ or Net+) and a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Responsibilities- Operation, maintenance and performance of telephone equipment and ancillary systems, including but not limited to Telephone Helpdesk, Cisco Call Manager, Nortel MSL-100 telephone switch, Callegra Voice Mail System, VESTA E911, Telecommunications Management System (TMS), and other related services.
- Handle phone calls for telephone support and repair.
- Complete all work orders for moves, adds and changes of telephone services.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and installation activities for equipment throughout Kirtland AFB.
- Coordinate with the customer on specific requirements and, where necessary, coordinate with other contractors.
- Knowledge of telecommunications systems and practices, including VoIP concepts.
- Strong customer service, communication and task management skills.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, meet with the customer tactfully and courteously, and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with customers and coworkers.
- Understanding of proper safety practices, procedures and regulations applicable to working in a telephone switch environment.
- Experience with tools and test equipment required for the installation and maintenance of telephone and data network services.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and Office products.
- Refined critical thinking skills, self‑starter, ability to direct the activities of other team members.
- Diplomatic, capable of shifting focus as required, adaptive to a dynamic environment, dependable and reliable.
- Physical ability to meet requirements such as standing, bending and lifting for duration of the duty day.
- Valid New Mexico Driver’s License required.
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification required.
- Requires an active DOD SECRET security clearance.
- Telephone Journeyman License JS7 – New Mexico Preferred.
- BICSI Installer 1 or 2 preferred.
