PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for the construction and repair of wood and wallboard fixtures in compliance with local building codes and general construction principles.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
  • Set up trailers
  • Study blueprints, sketches or building plans to determine the type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard. Measure the dimensions of the structure of the fixture to be fabricated.
  • Build decks, stairs, roofs and other temporary structures between office units, plan tables, install shelves, set up tool trailers and/or conex’s, silt fences and/or straw bales, set up site per erosion control plan.
  • Hand‑set forms and/or assemble the gang forms.
  • Assist journeyman and foreman with the shooting of grades and elevations.
  • Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect all pre‑fabricated materials.
  • Concrete and rough carpentry:
  • Hand set walls
  • Footings
  • Set gang wall forms
  • Structural concrete decks
  • Drywall
  • Finish carpentry, doors, frames, and hardware
  • Millwork and cabinetry
  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams.
  • Strong teamwork orientation.

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a carpenter.
  • Trade or technical school certification/diploma is a plus.
