This Role
Fiber Tel is looking for experienced HDD/Bore Crew Laborers for our Albuquerque, NM location. These laborers will assist our drill crews during drilling operations, including labor tasks assigned by the foreman, locating, potholing, and helping the driller operate and run our drills. Prior experience in a HDD/bore crew or a Class A CDL is a plus and will be prioritized.
ResponsibilitiesAll phases of telecommunication construction include, but are not limited to:
- Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various construction materials and equipment.
- Hand dig using shovel or mechanical tools.
- Assist with all labor tasks as needed.
- Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Work in congested or remote areas.
- Maintain visual and audible contact with crewmen and persons/vehicles to ensure safe coordination.
- Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor.
- Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to all regulations and policies.
- Learn all aspects of the crew and assist the operator and foreman as assigned.
- Set up, prepare, and clean up construction sites.
- Develop an understanding of buried utilities.
- Lift heavy equipment and supplies.
- CDL is a huge plus.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
- Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible to obtain one.
- Good driving record required.
- Basic knowledge of operating utility trucks and equipment safely.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment safety.
- Effective communication with customers and employees.
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
- Previous construction experience, preferably in telecommunications.
- Ability to perform all duties in telecommunication construction.
- Ability to travel.
This is a full‑time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. It operates outdoors and exposes employees to extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and wind. The work environment varies throughout the day—including changes in terrain, traffic, urban and rural settings. Exposure to natural gas, risk of electrical shock, and moderate to loud noise levels may occur.
Physical RequirementsStand for long periods (up to 12 hours), tolerate extreme weather, hear safety instructions, lift up to 75 pounds, and use vision for close and distance tasks. Ability to climb, kneel, reach, crouch, and crawl as needed.
