Field Service Technician – Walmart – Los Lunas, NM
Position Summary:
The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products currently installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. This person will install and service fuel cells at specific customer locations, report breakdown events, order parts, maintain documentation, and provide on‑call support.
- Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations.
- Execute specialized service procedures including field retrofits and software/hardware upgrades.
- Provide on‑call and emergency support as required.
- Purchasing tools, equipment, and parts for service.
- Troubleshoot and maintain high‑pressure hydrogen storage, 480
VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high‑pressure gas, and fueling systems. - Coordinate with hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support.
- Provide feedback to regional service representatives on performance and maintenance issues.
- Complete administrative duties and documentation: incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site/system documentation.
- Enforce safety procedures on field sites.
- Travel for business needs, drive safely, and comply with traffic laws.
- Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
- Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted on a regular basis.
- Knowledge of lift‑truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
- General mechanical aptitude required.
- Computer and software skills:
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. - Dynamic interpersonal skills for communication with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Creativity, independence, dedication to quality, exceptional time management, punctuality, and reliability.
- Must provide own standard set of tools; specific fuel‑cell tools will be provided by Plug Power.
$24.50 – $28.50 per hour.
