What Your Job Will Be Like
Join our team as a General Foreman MTC, where you will lead and coordinate diverse trades on dynamic construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, and seamless execution across multiple disciplines and locations.
In addition to performing the function of your qualified trades specialty, the General Foreman will function as a Foreman for all trades for the daily assigned work area. The General Foreman is primarily responsible and accountable for coordinating and overseeing construction activities to include all subcontractors in the field and overseeing all Working Foremen assigned to the individual project locations. The General Foreman coordinates with the Construction Services Team Leads and Planners for the acquisition of materials, equipment, and resources for the project.
They will also be responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and schedule of each project.
A General Foreman is required on job sites where a project exceeds any one of the following limits:
- Project has total craft count exceeding seven per discipline or 21, whichever is met first, in each day
- A single project exceeds three locations (locations defined as separate working spaces with no direct line of sight of each other)
- Five or more different craft disciplines are on a job site in a given day requiring increased coordination
The General Foreman cannot perform activity-level work when projects meet these thresholds.
As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee.
Qualifications We Require- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent certifications/education and ten (10) years of experience in a construction trade, or 15 years of combined experience in industrial/commercial construction.
- Perform installation of systems and utilize a computerized database to maintain required records.
- Perform work using industry standard safety practices such as proper use and inspection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and test equipment for confirmation of the de-energization of electrical circuits including but not limited to insulation resistance tester, digital multimeter, and circuit tracers.
- Shall have the ability to read/interpret all aspects of blueprint reading.
- Supervision in a commercial/industrial construction environment.
- Experience overseeing the safety & support of all craft, Electrical, Mechanical and ACS.
- SCI clearance.
Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance.
Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDsIf you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug‑releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs. If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on‑site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
