Construction Worker
Participate in the construction, maintenance, repair and remodeling of facilities/structures and parks; perform a variety of construction tasks involved in the renovation of wooden, concrete, brick or metal City buildings including rough and finish carpentry, masonry, block laying, painting, plumbing, basic electrical, minor welding, plastering, roofing, tiling, fence installation and sheetrock work and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
Essentialand Supplemental Functions
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Supplemental functions:
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours of specialized training in construction, carpentry, plumbing, or welding; and Two (2) years general construction experience.
Additional requirements:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire. When assigned to Aviation:
Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.
Environmental:
Field and construction site environment; travel from site to site; work around traffic and construction equipment; exposure to fumes, dust, noise and inclement weather conditions. Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, walking, crouching, bending, and climbing for prolonged periods of time; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; operating motorized vehicles and equipment.
