Job Title:
Heavy Equipment Operator – Construction and Solar Projects
This role is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other heavy material-handling equipment to load, unload, transport, and stage materials, equipment, and supplies across an active construction site, with a strong focus on solar and commercial projects.
Responsibilities- Operate forklifts, telehandlers, loaders, scissor lifts and other material‑handling equipment safely and efficiently on an active construction site.
- Load, unload, transport, and stage materials, equipment, and supplies throughout the construction area according to project plans and site needs.
- Handle and move steel canopy components, solar racking, photovoltaic (PV) modules, conduit, electrical materials, and related equipment with care and precision.
- Support construction and solar installation teams by ensuring materials are delivered to the correct locations in a timely manner.
- Perform basic pre‑operation inspections of equipment and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
- Follow all site safety procedures, traffic patterns, and equipment operation guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
- Coordinate with electricians, apprentices, laborers, and other crew members to prioritize material movement and minimize downtime.
- Maintain organized staging areas for materials to support efficient construction and solar installation activities.
- Safely enter, exit, and operate equipment multiple times throughout the day while maintaining awareness of surroundings and ground personnel.
- Adapt to changing site conditions and work requirements in an outdoor construction environment.
Work takes place outdoors on public open space within an active construction site. You will work closely with electricians, apprentices, and laborers in a field‑based environment that requires constant awareness of surroundings. The role involves operating heavy equipment throughout the day, including frequent and safe entry and exit from machines. You must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions, such as heat, cold, wind, or light precipitation, and navigating uneven terrain and typical construction site conditions.

This is a Contract position based out of Albuquerque, NM.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 – $30.00/hour.
