- Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
- Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
- Safely operate mechanized equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators, and more
- Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
- Flag traffic when required
- Understand separation and clearance regulations
- Safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid state driver's license (cannot be provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Pass a background check and company drug screening
- Attend and pass all company required training as needed
- May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
- May include working nights and holidays as needed
- May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business and job requirements
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
- Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry
- Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques
- Ability to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
- Ability to perform all duties in telecommunications construction such as pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, overlapping lash, and strand construction
- Lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance
- Know the color code system for cable pairs or be willing to learn
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with internal and external customers
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with product vendors and customers
- The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate
- Employees performing functions of this position are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but are not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
- Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens
