Position Summary

Lead, plan, oversee and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for the construction, installation, repair, maintenance, and remodeling of airport facilities. Coordinate activities, personnel, material and equipment necessary to complete assigned construction projects and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Essential and Supplemental Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation.

* Lead, plan, oversee and participate in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for the construction, installation, repair, maintenance, fabrication and welding, carpentry and remodeling of airport facilities.

* Coordinate activities, personnel, material and equipment necessary to complete assigned construction projects; coordinate construction activities with airport tenants; assist workers engaged in keeping the construction/work site in a clean and orderly condition.

* Prepare and estimate time and materials list and submit to upper management for recommendation and or approval.

* Repair and re-key locks and lock systems; repair or replace damaged locksets; install or replace Cores or Smart Cores to locksets.

* Verify the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.

* Perform rough and finished carpentry work and framing of new construction; install hardware on wood and steel doors and wood cabinets; construct cabinets, partitions, floors, work tables and furniture

* Construct cement forms; pour, finish, and repair concrete pads, footings, walks, planters and related items.

* Perform and oversee other construction tasks including fence and gate installation, painting, plastering, welding, brick laying, and basic non-journeyman plumbing and electrical; install, replace or repair ceilings, roofs, and flooring.

* Install and replace glass and plexi-glass in wood, steel and aluminum windows; construct complete window frames; repair or replace window frames and broken windows and glazing.

* Transport supplies or materials to work site or assigned facility complex.

* Interpret complex blueprints and/or shop drawings.

* Supervise the use, care and operation of construction equipment and tools

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

* Act as security escort for various vendors throughout the airport facility.

* Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.

* Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education , Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours vocational training in construction, carpentry, plumbing, or welding; and

Four (4) years of experience in general building or facility construction.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.

Working Conditions

Environmental:

Field and construction site environment; travel from site to site; work around traffic and construction equipment; exposure to fumes, dust, noise and inclement weather conditions.

Physical:

Essential and supplemental functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, walking, crouching, bending, and climbing for prolonged periods; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; operating motorized vehicles and equipment.
