Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Line Locator to support field operations by accurately locating, identifying, and marking underground utilities and pipelines. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe excavation activities, protecting underground infrastructure, and maintaining compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience utilizing utility locating equipment, interpreting maps and drawings, conducting field inspections, and communicating effectively with operations personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders. This is a field-based position requiring independent work, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities Utility Locating & Marking:
  • Locate and identify underground pipelines, utilities, and associated infrastructure using electronic locating equipment and mapping systems.
  • Mark underground facilities in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify utility locations prior to excavation, construction, and maintenance activities.
  • Install and maintain utility identification markers as needed.
Field Operations:
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure accurate utility identification and documentation.
  • Review maps, drawings, GIS data, and utility records to support locating activities.
  • Perform line crossing inspections and monitor excavation activities near underground facilities.
  • Respond to locate requests within established timelines.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of locate activities, inspections, and field findings.
  • Update maps and utility information as required.
  • Document potential conflicts, damages, or safety concerns and communicate findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete daily reports and required field documentation.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Adhere to all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and hazard assessments.
  • Maintain situational awareness around excavation and construction activities.
  • Support emergency response activities related to underground utility incidents when required.
Communication & Coordination:
  • Coordinate with contractors, operators, construction crews, and project teams regarding utility locations and excavation plans.
  • Serve as a field resource for underground utility information.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to minimize risk and prevent utility damage.
Skills & Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Line Locator, Utility Locator, Damage Prevention Technician, or related field position.
  • Experience locating underground pipelines, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of utility locating methods, equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, utility drawings, plats, and GIS information.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Technical

Skills:
  • Proficiency with utility locating equipment and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with GIS, mapping systems, and utility documentation.
  • Understanding of excavation safety and damage prevention requirements.
  • Ability to accurately document and report field findings. Professional

    • Ability to walk long distances, traverse uneven terrain, and work around active construction sites.
    • Ability to lift and carry locating equipment and field tools.

    Delaware Basin

    Pay: $26-$30/per hr

    Schedule:

    14 Days On / 7 Days Off

    Work Hours:

    12-Hour Days

    Employment Type:

    1099 Contract

    Travel Pay: 2 Travel Days per Hitch ($400/day - $450/day)
