Business Unit: 24400. Court Probation Officer 2 #, Full‑Time Term, Albuquerque, NM. # of Positions:
1. Target Pay Range: $24,736‑$30,920 per hour.
- Investigate defendants’ educational, family, criminal, employment and social background as well as prior treatment compliance.
- Assess and determine the risks and needs of defendants for treatment and develop a tailored supervision plan.
- Review police and court reports, analyze, verify, justify, and report treatment and sentencing recommendations to the court.
- Monitor defendants’ compliance with sentencing and conditions of probation; recommend counseling when appropriate.
- Schedule hearings, notify parties, appear in court to present pre‑sentencing reports, and subpoena witnesses as needed.
- Provide advice and recommendations to attorneys and keep the Court apprised of defendants’ status.
- Maintain, secure, manage, and update essential and relevant documents in case files; compile monthly statistical files.
- Conduct scheduled and unannounced site visits to monitor program compliance and track community service participation.
- Monitor compliance via electronic monitoring technology and administer drug and alcohol screens.
- Participate in court progress meetings, conferences, training, community outreach, and educational programs related to court programs.
- Prepare written and oral reports detailing defendants’ program compliance and make recommendations on future treatment support or referrals.
- Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the operational needs of the Court.
- Knowledge of court‑ordered rehabilitation or support programs, sentencing guidelines, treatment options, community services, New Mexico law, civil and criminal procedure, local court rules, policies, procedures, case management, legal terminology, substance abuse and mental health counseling and treatment, mediation and conflict resolution, investigative techniques, drug screening methods, electronic monitoring equipment and technology, and court case management systems.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or a related field; or four years of directly related experience may substitute for a degree on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Three years of experience in criminal justice, social services, or a related field.
- May be required to obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six months of hire.
