The Classification Officer is responsible for providing quality case management. Ensures communication is occurring between team members to support on-going progress toward client goals and the client discharge plan to include placement, treatment, education, employment, and supervision (if required). Responsible for completing tracking forms and spreadsheets to assist the Classification Supervisor with producing accurate monthly, quarterly, and yearly statistics. Works closely with the Unit Management teams to develop on-going quality assurance and improvement needs of the centers.

Maintain accurate records and tracking of client referrals, goals, supports, and their time in the JRC. Guide and support staff in meeting deadlines while maintaining high-quality documentation. Create and foster a positive working environment and relationship with clients, JRC staff, Juvenile Probation staff, Transitional and Educational Coordinators, secure facility staff, community providers, and other personnel that provide services to our clients.

Schedules and facilitates Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings. Processes recommendations of clients being referred to the JRCs through Supervised Release or from Juvenile Probation offices. The Classification Officer must follow current Policies and Procedures. Communication with sending teams and resources around the State in seeking safe and successful placements for clients.

Juvenile Justice clients and their families, community partners, and reintegration center staff.

• Empathetic and objective understanding of the problems of youthful offenders in custody
• Neat personal appearance
• History of law abiding behavior (I'm sure there are issues with this but this would be a characteristic I think is important)
• Willingness to impartially work with clients of various racial, ethnic, and cultural differences and sexual orientation
• Sound physical, mental and emotional condition; strength, endurance, and agility necessary to meet the demands of the job
• Not afraid to deal with troubled youth
• Good work ethics, caring, able to build proper relationships and takes initiative

Associate's Degree in psychology, guidance and counseling, penology, sociology, social work, and/or criminology and two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, military duty, classroom teaching or instructing in a rehabilitative environment, working in planned recreational activities, or active participation in community action programs, or for Correctional Officer Specialist positions, relevant work experience as it…
