Early Career Systems Research Analysis - Enterprise Artificial Intelligence Data, Onsite

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and experienced R&D S&E Systems Research Analysis to enhance our analytical capabilities and drive data‑based decision‑making. The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing advanced AI systems and solutions in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment, and requires onsite work at Sandia National Laboratories.

• Design, develop, and implement AI systems and software that support laboratory‑wide operational applications.
• Create intelligent algorithms, models, and tools for natural language processing, computer vision, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
• Conduct research, development, deployment, and provide technical support for scientific software, application software, data mining, machine learning, and data analytics to solve specific operational challenges.
• Collaborate across multiple functional areas to design and implement innovative AI/ML solutions that address complex problems.
• Build, modify, and maintain databases and database management systems to empower leadership with actionable insights.
• Identify opportunities to enhance analytical capabilities and develop strategic plans to implement recommended improvements.
• Integrate AI models into larger systems and applications to improve overall system functionality and scalability.
• Communicate effectively and persuasively with leadership through presentations, written analyses, concise reports, and data visualizations.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and scientific or engineering experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance.

• Graduate degree with an independent research project (thesis, dissertation, or equivalent).
• Experience working on multidisciplinary teams examining complex systems.
• Knowledge of project management fundamentals for federally‑funded work, including proposal development through final delivery and closeout.
• Experience with federal sponsors in defense and intelligence sectors, as well as their domestic and international partners.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to deliver concise information to non‑technical audiences.
• Experience with database management systems such as Oracle, Hive, Mongo
  
  DB, and Hadoop.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis languages and object‑oriented development tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, and MLflow.
• Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning libraries (Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Keras, scikit‑learn) and natural language processing frameworks.
• Ability to identify business problems that can be addressed through data analysis and to develop effective solutions.
• Critical thinking, synthesis, and analytical skills.
• Excellent collaboration and people skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a teaming environment.
• Ability to model behaviors reflecting Sandia’s core values.
• Active DOE Q‑level or DoD TS security clearance (or ability to obtain one).
