Senior/Principal R&D Computer Science Engineer - Space & Flight Systems
Organization 5361 Space & Flight Systems is seeking a creative and motivated computer scientist, computer engineer, or electrical engineer to join our development team. The primary focus is on developing embedded software, integrating electronics, and supporting the integration of hardware, firmware, software, and test systems into cutting‑edge space‑based payloads that support national security missions.
Responsibilities- Lead or participate in technical teams to develop state‑of‑the‑art embedded systems.
- Design, implement, test, integrate, launch, and operate embedded systems in a high‑consequence environment.
- Develop embedded software, including real‑time processing of sensor data and data processing on the edge.
- Perform system integration and testing of electronic subsystems.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and at least five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and engineering or scientific experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance; SCI clearance may be required.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance.
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or a highly related field with an independent research project.
- Experience with modern software development practices and tools (e.g., Agile).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field plus at least two (2) years of experience.
- Experience with object‑oriented C++ software development.
- Experience with software/hardware test and verification.
- Experience in Unix/Linux operating environments.
- Experience leading software development teams.
- Experience with other software programming languages.
- Experience working with embedded processors and hardware.
- Experience in scientific/engineering data processing software development and real‑time processing of sensor data.
- Strong dedication to positive team dynamics and a keen focus on customer service.
- Active DOE security clearance.
Job location:
Albuquerque, NM (on‑site). Relocation assistance is provided for qualified candidates.
Salary Range: $117,500 - $235,700 (subject to experience, qualifications, and geographic differentials).
Security ClearanceApplicants must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance. DOE background investigation and drug testing are required.
