Recreation AID; Lifeguard

About the position:

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Aquatics Center, Kirtland AFB, NM.

This position will be filled as Flexible employment category; guarantees 00 hrs/week (may work up to 40 hrs/wk).

This position is for a Summer Hire position NTE 120 Days after start date.

• Position requires current Lifeguard Certification (Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.

When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.

• This position requires the incumbent to complete Childcare Background Checks and Investigation (CNACI and State Checks) with favorable results.
• This position requires the incumbent to be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 100 pounds.
• This position requires the incumbent possess an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.
