COURIER

The Courier is responsible for providing courier services for Farewells to include regular, scheduled services for all departments and locations and services in support of death certificate processing. Operates independently to assure timely, accurate, and reliable pick-up and delivery of documents and all other designated materials in keeping with established standards and practices.

Wednesday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

• Drives company vehicle in performance of courier duties.
• Prioritize workload to efficiently utilize time.
• Responds to multi-tasking and fluctuating demands.
• Transports sensitive documents, and death certificates in a safe and secure manner.
• Picks-up and delivers materials from a variety of locations.
• Follows directions and schedules to meet time requirements.
• Understands and explains elements of death certificate content.
• Provides support to managers, funeral directors and staff on a “as required” basis.
• Provides general care and maintenance of courier vehicles.
• Promotes a positive environment that effectively represents Farewells’ Mission, Vision and Values.
• All other duties as assigned.

This job operates in a public environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Be able to drive company vehicle for up to 4 hours at a time and 8 hours per shift.
• Lift up to 50 pounds to hip level.
• Be able to work outdoors and drive in all weather conditions and hours of darkness.

• High school graduate, or equivalent.

• Prior courier experience is a plus.

• Must have knowledge of Albuquerque’s streets and major medical facilities.
• Must be able to read, hear, understand, and process essential paperwork and instructions, both oral and written.
• Must possess a valid NM driver’s license with an insurable driving record per the qualifications of the company insurance provider.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts.
• Must be able to analyze situations and make recommendations for improved service.
• Must be able to analyze and act appropriately with staff and public.
• Must be able to manage time and meet deadlines.
• Must be able to analyze and understand questions, instructions, and procedures/processes.
