Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). The role involves vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. Primarily, the position moves our box trucks up to 26' and, for CDL Class A, includes tractors and trailer movement. It may also provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on‑call part‑time truck driving job suitable for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, working 0 to 25 hours a week based on business needs.

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order; report issues to location manager
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

• 2 years of driving experience
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record
• Valid Class B CDL required; must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in state of residence
• CDL Class A license preferred
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, positive attitude
• English language proficiency required
• Regular, predictable, full attendance essential function of the job
• Must maintain current driver qualification file per DOT regulations, including annual MVR check, DOT Physical, Safety Performance History document, DOT drug screening within 30 days of start
• Willingness to travel, work required schedule, complete application, background investigation, drug screening

• Must be able to see and hear; vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg); occasionally lift up to 100 lbs (45 kg)
• Frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle, feel, reach with arms
• Legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit vehicle and rear cargo area
• Provide constant alertness and safe manner of operation
