Join Our Community of Food People! Basic PurposeThe Dispatcher will coordinate driver assignments and activities to ensure proper distribution service to our customers. Escalate issues whenever there are risks to proper service.
ScheduleSunday – Thursday: 10:00 pm – 6:30 am
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate driver activities and shuttle assignments to resolve service issues and minimize overtime, downtime, and hours of service violations. Complete attendance trackers and verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.
- Ensure that customers’ needs are being met in a prompt and professional manner and escalates issues (late dispatch, breakdown, other service failures) to managers and sales force. Reassign routes as needed to solve service issues, and ensure that drivers are logging in and utilizing Proof of Delivery scanner.
- Coordinate trailer, tractor, and backhaul assignments to support efficient logistics operations.
- Visually inspect each driver’s appearance to verify that drivers are in proper uniform and have required PPE.
- Notify the manager / supervisor in charge and the safety specialist in the event of a vehicle accident or driver injury.

- The work takes place both at a desk in an office environment and in normal warehouse environments, including cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as –5 °C.
- Minimum one year of transportation or logistics experience.
- Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent telephone and customer service ability.
- Math, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills with a good knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities to solve problems of limited scope.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to support others in the department and division.
- High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
- Prior dispatcher experience preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT Hours of Service Regulations and driver logs.
- Knowledge of our geographic delivery area.
Must be able to:
- Stand occasionally, walk occasionally, drive vehicle occasionally, and sit frequently.
- Lifting: 1–10 lb (sedentary) occasionally, 11–20 lb (light) occasionally, 21–50 lb (medium) occasionally, 51–100 lb (heavy) occasionally.
- Carrying: 1–10 lb, 11–20 lb, 21–50 lb occasionally.
- Push/pull, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel, bend, twist occasionally.
- Reach above shoulder frequently.
- Grasp and manipulate objects occasionally.
- Manual dexterity frequently.
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $17 and $26 per hour. This role may also receive overtime compensation.
