Position: Performing Arts Instructor (Alexander City) EMERGENCY HIRE

Instructor Position

The primary responsibility of an Instructor is planning, organization, and instruction of courses. Instructors will be assigned to teach at varied times and locations based on student demand; day, evening, or weekend in Alexander City, Childersburg, Talladega, Prattville, or at other sites in the traditional classroom or via distance learning. SALARY:
Commensurate with education and teaching experience according to Salary ScheduleD1-1A ($48454 -$75617) - 9 months. An additional summer contract may be available dependent upon enrollment ($14,959 -$23,388) - 3 months; ($63,413 - $99,005) - 12 months. This position will be based in Alexancer City:
Central Alabama Community College 1675 Cherokee Rd Alexander City, AL 35010

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Complies with all policies and guidelines as specified by the Alabama Community College System, Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, and Central Alabama Community College and applicable federal guidelines.
2. Student Recruitment including, but not limited to, awarding music scholarships, participating in recruiting events both on campus and off, actively recruiting choir/band students from in state high schools, utilizing social media and other communications to recruit choir/band students.
3. Manage and direct all instrumental and choral ensembles.
4. Manage and direct all instrumental and choral performances during special college events and community events, both on and off campus.
5. Schedule, plan, and organize performances both on and off campus including the preparation of performance materials for Public Relations for each concert and/or performance.
6. Develops and maintains course syllabi, course competencies, assessments, and outlines.
7. Plans, organizes, and instructs all levels of courses.
8. Works with Dean of Academic Programs, Division Chair and faculty to develop, evaluate, and review curriculum.
9. Recommends textbooks and other instructional materials including classroom and laboratory equipment to Division Chair. 10. Collaborates with Academics and Student Support Divisions to promote student success and increase student program completion. 11. Monitors and analyzes student and program outcome data to ensure continuous improvement in achievement and maintenance of student success rates. 12. Tracks and records student daily attendance as required.

13. Provides student advising. 14. Collaborates with the office of Student Services regarding class roster to ensure accurate student registration reporting. 15. Develops or assists with development of instructional semester schedule. 16. Develops or assists with development of distance learning courses and/or Web based courses. 17. Maintains appropriate office hours.

Qualifications

1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution (18 graduate semester or 27 graduate quarter hours in teaching discipline area is required). 2. Effective oral and written communication skills required.
3. Competency in the use of current educational technologies in the classroom and willingness to develop and teach web-based courses is required.
4. Proficiency in English language is required.
5. Prior teaching experience in assigned discipline area is strongly preferred.
