Job Description

Title: LBD/MSD QUEST Academy Teacher

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and the required Kentucky certificate for LBD or MSD.
  • Experience working with secondary students with moderate/severe disabilities preferred.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to work effectively with students, peers, and adults.
  • Has demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community.

Reports To: Campbell County High School Principal

Job Goal

Coordinate and provide instruction for CCHS students with disabilities participating in the CCS QUEST Academy, a Campbell County program designed to provide students with disabilities with employability skills and internship opportunities.

Performance Responsibilities

Coordinate the CCS QUEST Academy program, including teaching courses on employability skills and supervising students in internship opportunities. Knowledgeable of current best practices in the field of competitive and supported employment.

Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and ability to develop evidence‑based complaint Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Individualized Transition Plans (ILPs) and special education paperwork.
  • Complete special education paperwork, reports and grading requirements by required deadlines.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and agency personnel to determine support for secondary students’ career interests, specific job preferences (hours, location, etc.), skills and abilities to develop an individualized approach to student employment.
  • Identify and create solutions for academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns that interfere with gaining and maintaining employment.
  • Instruct students in employability skills such as communication, problem solving, and teamwork, grooming, budgeting and self‑advocacy.
  • Utilizes sound judgment and decision‑making skills.
  • Works as a productive team member with families, school, area business, and agency personnel.
  • Communicate regularly with business liaison, skills trainers, families and school team members for student progress and issues.
  • Perform specific job analysis, task analysis, and job matching activities.
  • Develop linkages among other agencies to assure effective transition from school to work or from current placement to successful community employment.
  • Coordinate internal job placement opportunities within CCHS and local business and resulting accommodations, and necessary job supports for students.
  • Develop job development training plan with consumers and appropriate support personnel.
  • Coordinate intern activities including job fairs, accessible transportation, etc.
  • Coordinate parent engagement events.
  • Collect and analyze student and program data.
  • Refer students to appropriate agencies for support and services related to successful employment.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and follow FERPA and HIPPA regulations.
  • Communicate with teachers and administrators concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.
  • Provide accommodations and modifications for individual students in their daily instructional tasks and assessments.
  • Notify administrators of any concerns related to student safety, health, or wellbeing, including possible student infractions of the district Discipline Code.
  • Support the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations.
  • Participate in meetings and training as assigned.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
