Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer
An opportunity for a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid).
The mission of Flight Tests Instrumentation Architecture & Equipment is to provide Flight Test Means to gather data from the test object (on A/C) for further evaluation. Our range of capabilities covers special systems, quick response, diverse technologies (sensors, data acquisition, telemetry), and manufacturing capability. The selected candidate will join a multicultural team responsible for the full life cycle of a Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) installation for development aircraft, from conception to deployment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and define Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) installations onboard Flight Test Aircrafts for the Eurofighter program, compiling and analyzing requirements for HW, SW, and digital systems.
- Develop and prepare FTI documentation for A/C installation Design Offices and Laboratory Facilities, ensuring alignment with quality, cost, and time procedures.
- Coordinate and manage general FTI activities, including budget, export control, stock, spares, and Verification & Validation (V&V) activities with main stakeholders.
- Implement updates during the development phase and provide technical support to investigate and solve in-service anomalies.
- Evaluate "Make or Buy" processes and explore new instrumentation technologies to meet future project needs.
Skills:
- Education:
Aeronautical, Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering degree or a related discipline. - Experience:
Previous professional experience in Testing Activities and data acquisition system expertise (analog, digital, bus signals, routers, and switches). - Technical knowledge:
Telemetry equipment, Radio Frequency chains, WAN/LAN protocols stack (TCP/UDP, IP, PTP), and Network Simulation tools (Wireshark, IPerf). - Soft skills:
Methodical, organized, and assertive profile with high proactivity, team spirit to work under pressure, and strong negotiation capabilities. - Languages:
Advanced level in English. - Valuable / Nice to have:
Programming skills in LUA, LabVIEW, or Python; familiarity with Airbus/military tools (Sabre, STILo, RODAS, DOORS, A400M FTI Block Diagrams).
