Staff Accountant – LSU–Alexandria (LSUA) Accounting Services
A highly organized and detail‑oriented Staff Accountant will support the Accounting Services department by managing account receivables, collections, reconciliations, and cashiering processes. The position reports to the Director of Accounting Services.
Responsibilities- Audit and review student and customer account receivables for past‑due balances.
- Contact students, customers, and external agencies regarding past‑due accounts.
- Communicate with university departments to gather documentation for proof of debt.
- Prepare monthly collections file for submission to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office and oversee all communications with that office.
- Receive and process monthly payments from the Attorney General’s Office.
- Invoice external agencies and affiliates, including military divisions, Louisiana Workforce, and school boards.
- Prepare quarterly Accounts Receivable reports for OSRAP.
- Assist the Director with monthly accounts receivable reconciliations and weekly reconciliations of financial aid disbursements.
- Perform daily cashiering processes at the front counter.
- Implement and maintain internal controls.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in an accounting, finance, or business‑related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic computer competency required;
Quick Books and Workday experience preferred. - Demonstrated ability to work with multiple constituencies, both internal and external.
- 8‑hour shifts Monday‑Friday (40 hours per week); additional hours as needed.
