Plans Reviewer, Construction Development
The City of Alexandria, located in Central Louisiana, is seeking professionals to begin a career in the Construction Development Department to review residential and commercial building plans and specifications for compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs responsible technical work involving the review of all residential and commercial construction, additions, renovation plans, blueprints, and drawings to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Provides information and answers inquiries concerning building codes and ordinances to the public, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
- Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations; maintains an awareness of new trends and advances.
- Verifies proper City business, state, and home builder's licensures.
- Accepts construction plans and plan documents associated with permit processing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or related field; and three (3) years' experience in general building construction, code interpretation, building inspection, and/or plans review, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment.
- Must possess or obtain within one year of hire the following certificates issued by the International Code Council (ICC): ICC Combination Plans Examiner and ICC Residential Plans Examiner
-Or- ICC Certified Building Official. - An understanding of Floodplain Management and site planning is preferred.
Work Hours:
40 hours per week, may work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
