Instructor of Mathematics
Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a Full-Time Instructor of Mathematics position. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach a wide range of undergraduate mathematics courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. The department is especially interested in candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and who can provide high-quality instruction in general education mathematics courses.
LSUA is partnering with LSU Online to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the continued growth, development, and delivery of this program while contributing to the university's mission of academic excellence, student success, and service.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
- Teach undergraduate Mathematics courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
- Develop and maintain high-quality instructional materials and utilize effective teaching strategies that support student success.
- Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support and mentoring to students in person and electronically.
- Advise students regarding academic planning, degree completion, internships, and career pathways.
- Contribute to the growth and success of LSUA's Mathematics program, including support of the LSU Online partnership.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including committee assignments and faculty governance.
- Engage in professional development activities that support teaching effectiveness and disciplinary expertise.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, or University administration.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in mathematics or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates holding a graduate degree in another discipline with at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in Mathematics will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching undergraduate Mathematics courses.
- Demonstrated excellence in classroom and online teaching.
- Familiarity with or experience in online course development and delivery.
- Evidence of engagement in scholarly or professional development activities
