Job Opportunity
The City of Alexandria, LA is seeking candidates for a full-time position in the Electric Production department. The salary is $29,078.40 annually. The job is located at 625 Murray Street, Alexandria, LA.
The position involves routine and moderately complex work in the daily operation of a steam driven electric power plant being converted to gas fueled reciprocating engine driven generation.
Minimum applicant qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, experience in the operation of a steam-driven and/or reciprocating internal combustion engine driven electric utility power plant, or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Experience with Wartsila engines is preferred. After the commercial operations date of the new units, completion of Wartsila gas fueled stationary reciprocating engine / generator training is necessary.
A valid driver's license is required and must be obtained at the time of appointment and maintained throughout employment.
The work schedule is 40 hours per week, with potential weekend and holiday work. The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, a performance test, or any combination deemed necessary to screen and rank applicants. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their previous training and experience, including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers, and the dates of employment.
