Position Overview:
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join a growing engineering team specializing in civil and structural engineering for high-voltage electrical substations and switchyards.
This is a hands-on engineering and project management position, not a project-management-only role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of projects while actively participating in engineering calculations, design, detailing, technical reviews, and problem-solving.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, designers, clients, and leadership to deliver high-quality projects while managing scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and technical deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and technical deliverables.
- Coordinate civil and structural engineering activities for high-voltage substations and switchyards.
- Assist with physical substation design and engineering.
- Perform engineering calculations, design, detailing, technical reviews, and related engineering work.
- Take an active role in engineering and design when project requirements demand it.
- Define project requirements, assign responsibilities, and track project progress.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client specifications.
- Assist with project quotes, estimates, proposals, forecasting, scheduling, and resource planning.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, clients, and leadership to resolve technical and project-related challenges.
- Identify potential project issues and proactively develop practical solutions.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accuracy, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering and project delivery processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 3+ years of civil/structural engineering and/or engineering project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
- Experience with or knowledge of electrical utility, substation, structural, or related engineering is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering, design, drafting, and visualization software.
- Strong understanding of engineering design principles, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a technical team.
- Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and a proactive approach to solving problems.
- Must be willing and able to perform hands-on engineering and design work in addition to project coordination.
