Description:
This is a very high acuity unit. Contractors will manage a heavy load of strokes, cardiovascular cases, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health situations, and sepsis cases. Some trauma cases may be seen, but this is not a trauma-designated unit. Nights shift is from 7 PM to 7 AM. The position requires a competent nurse who practices independently and is aware of all relevant aspects of a situation.
The nurse will provide routine and complex care while developing the ability to cope with and manage clinical contingencies. The nurse will meet expectations consistent with applicable competencies in leadership. Utilizing the nursing process, the nurse will provide nursing care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. The nurse will address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
The nurse will administer medications and treatments as per protocol and monitor for side effects and effectiveness of the prescribed treatment. The nurse will document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided. The role also involves assessing learning needs and providing education to patients, family members, and caregivers. This position requires all newly hired experienced RNs to complete an orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
All initial onboarding requirements must be validated through successful completion of designated competency validations. The nurse will be expected to maintain annual competency verification requirements. This role has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1. There is an every other weekend requirement, with no on-call or floating requirements. Security is on-site 24/7.
