Position OverviewThe Floor Security Monitor provides safety monitoring, observational oversight, and general support within a federally contracted ICE residential facility in Alexandria, LA.
This is a non-armed position responsible for maintaining awareness of facility activity, monitoring assigned areas, reporting safety concerns, supporting resident movement within approved areas, and assisting with maintaining a safe, orderly, and secure environment. The Floor Security Monitor does not perform law enforcement duties and is not an armed security position.
This role works in coordination with facility leadership, security personnel, behavioral health staff, medical staff, and other team members to support safe daily operations in a 24/7 residential environment.
Individuals in the facility are short-term residents. This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and observant in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities /Essential Functions Facility Safety & Observation- Monitor assigned areas of the facility to ensure safety, order, and appropriate activity.
- Observe individuals and facility conditions and report safety, security, or behavioral concerns to appropriate staff.
- Conduct routine safety checks of assigned areas and document findings.
- Maintain awareness of movement and activity within assigned zones.
- Respond to and report incidents, disturbances, or unusual activity in accordance with facility procedures.
- Support a safe and respectful environment through presence and awareness.
- Monitor assigned areas for safety hazards or maintenance concerns.
- Report broken equipment, unsafe conditions, or environmental issues promptly.
- Ensure common areas remain orderly and accessible.
- Support basic facility readiness and safety standards.
- Document and report all incidents, observations, and safety concerns accurately.
- Communicate clearly with leadership and team members regarding facility status.
- Participate in shift briefings and handoff communications.
- Maintain accurate logs and reports as required.
- Escalate concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Use verbal de-escalation techniques when appropriate to support safe interactions.
- Maintain a calm and professional presence at all times.
- Notify appropriate staff when additional support is needed.
- Support resolution of minor conflicts through observation and reporting.
- Follow all federal facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
- Complete required training and certifications.
- Follow mandatory reporting requirements.
- Adhere to all safety and security protocols.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Education, or a related field preferred. - Minimum one (1) year of experience working with children, families, vulnerable populations, residential programs, social services, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, and supervisory direction.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure effective communication with staff, visitors, government officials, and other contractor personnel.
