Position OverviewThe Floor Security Monitor provides safety monitoring, observational oversight, and general support within a federally contracted ICE residential facility in Alexandria, Louisiana.
This non‑armed position maintains awareness of facility activity, monitors assigned areas, reports safety concerns, supports resident movement within approved zones, and assists with maintaining a safe, orderly, and secure environment. The Floor Security Monitor does not perform law‑enforcement duties.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions- Facility Safety & Observation
- Monitor assigned areas to ensure safety, order, and appropriate activity.
- Observe individuals and facility conditions and report safety, security, or behavioral concerns to appropriate staff.
- Conduct routine safety checks of assigned areas and document findings.
- Maintain awareness of movement and activity within assigned zones.
- Respond to and report incidents, disturbances, or unusual activity in accordance with facility procedures.
- Support a safe and respectful environment through presence and awareness.
- Facility Safety & Environmental Support
- Monitor assigned areas for safety hazards or maintenance concerns.
- Report broken equipment, unsafe conditions, or environmental issues promptly.
- Ensure common areas remain orderly and accessible.
- Support basic facility readiness and safety standards.
- Communication & Reporting
- Document and report all incidents, observations, and safety concerns accurately.
- Communicate clearly with leadership and team members regarding facility status.
- Participate in shift briefings and hand‑off communications.
- Maintain accurate logs and reports as required.
- Escalate concerns appropriately and in a timely manner.
- De‑escalation & Support
- Use verbal de‑escalation techniques when appropriate.
- Maintain a calm and professional presence at all times.
- Notify appropriate staff when additional support is needed.
- Support resolution of minor conflicts through observation and reporting.
- Compliance & Standards
- Follow all federal facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
- Complete required training and certifications.
- Follow mandatory reporting requirements.
- Adhere to all safety and security protocols.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Education, or related field preferred. - Minimum one (1) year of experience working with children, families, vulnerable populations, residential programs, social services, education, or related field.
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to follow policies, procedures, and supervisory direction.
- Proficiency in spoken, written, and read English.
- Experience with data entry, electronic records management, or case management systems preferred.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information appropriately.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Bilingual in Spanish or another commonly encountered language preferred.
- Training or experience in trauma‑informed care, crisis intervention, behavioral support, or de‑escalation techniques.
- Experience in residential facilities, shelters, family services programs, detention settings, or other 24‑hour operations.
- Experience working on government contracts or within federally regulated environments.
- Employees must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident.
