DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is seeking a Welding Technician to work from the Port of Alexandria Facility in our Welding Department. The Welding Technician assists FBS Welders with cutting, fitting, and welding aluminum bus pipes and cable jumpers, and supports the production processes of the Project Services Center. Skilled tasks include reading blueprints, moving and operating machinery or equipment—including cranes—to manipulate pipes or jumpers and maintaining a steady flow of productivity.

- Successfully apply simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screwdriver etc.
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
- Position and align parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications, using machinery and hand tools
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and common power tools
- Move parts safely into position; manually or with hoists or cranes
- Keep warehouse property in order, including routine maintenance and grooming of grounds and facilities and regular and preventative maintenance on all company equipment and machinery
- Attend safety meetings as requested/instructed
- Operate all machinery and equipment, including the company’s forklift, safely at all times
- Promote company goals
- Display an excellent safety record
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Read and understand measuring devices such as tape measure, rules, and combination squares required
- Perform simple shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers) required
- Experience applying simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screwdriver etc. required
- Demonstrate safe work practices
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Highly motivated with a desire to learn
