Community Behavioral Health Hospital (CBHH) in Alexandria is seeking a Health Information Management Specialist (HIMS) / Office & Administrative Specialist, Intermediate to join our team. CBHH is a 16‑bed inpatient psychiatric facility that serves adults experiencing serious mental health episodes, with stays typically less than 30 days focusing on stabilization, patient education and discharge planning.
Responsibilities- Performs overall office management and audit functions and collaborates with team members.
- Manages the census information system, ensuring accuracy and availability of patient numbers and statistical reports.
- Assures timely dissemination of medical record information.
- Accounting/Budgeting/Expense skills sufficient to prepare financial, purchasing and payroll reports, and reconcile payments.
- Customer Service skills sufficient to communicate information to clients, including phone and walk‑in contacts, in a helpful and courteous manner.
- Data Entry skills sufficient to create and update database records and apply basic spreadsheets.
- Database Management skills sufficient to locate, update and retrieve health information from various databases.
- English language skills sufficient for reading, writing and understanding medical records and business correspondence.
- Specialized terminology skills including medical terminology, document management, scanning, indexing and quality control.
- Spreadsheet skills sufficient to develop and modify basic spreadsheets, and sort and extract data.
- Typing/Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete a variety of reports, letters, forms and data summaries.
- Word processing skills sufficient to develop, format and modify correspondence, records, reports and forms.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license for off‑site trainings and client transport.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and familiarity with work‑order and learning management systems.
- 1 to 3 years of office management experience with medical records management.
- Experience providing clerical or office support in a healthcare setting such as a hospital, clinic or nursing home.
