Alexandria Public Schools Community Education offers a wide variety of youth and adult programs throughout the year. Community Education is looking for creative, energetic, and personable people who have a passion for families and have outstanding customer service skills to join our dynamic team.
Compass is Alexandria Community Education’s school-age care program, providing before and after school, non-school day and summer care for students PreK-6th Grade. Site Leader is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and well-organized program for school-age children. This role includes overseeing daily operations, providing exceptional customer service, supervising staff, and fostering a positive learning environment. The Site Leader is expected to build strong relationships with children, families, and staff and is committed to ensuring a safe, fun, and growth-oriented experience for all participants.
Monday-Friday, Shared time between Early Education Center and Carlos Elementary School (38-40 hours/week)
Bonus pay of up to $4/hour in addition to hourly rate of pay.
Nine (9) month position with option of additional summer hours.
Key Responsibilities- Organize and maintain a smooth‑functioning program that adheres to established policies and the Code of Conduct.
- Ensure materials for daily lesson plans are prepared and activities are engaging, age‑appropriate, and developmentally beneficial.
- Communicate daily with parents about their child’s positive behaviors, special observations, and any notable concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality for all children, families, and staff in the program.
- Accurately manage records including attendance logs, accident and incident reports, and behavior forms.
- Implement a responsible discipline policy and follow individual behavior plans.
- Promote teamwork and foster a positive image of the program both within the school and to the larger community.
- Attend all staff meetings and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Experience in childcare, early childhood education, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with children, parents, and staff.
- Ability to adapt to schedule changes and work independently with a high level of responsibility.
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
