JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant will provide financial support, analysis, and a variety of accounting duties for complex business units. This role is responsible for financial systems including the coordination, maintenance, troubleshooting, and solution finding for existing systems and assessment of new systems.

Essential duties require skills in working with financial and operating/ERP systems as well as interfacing with customers, vendors, outside professional service providers, and government agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports complex business units related to rates, job costing, margins, monitoring work in process inventory
  • Administers highly complex sales and use tax
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare monthly reports and metrics for business units and departments assigned.
  • Miscellaneous, review and classifications of invoices and payments.
  • Prepare and enter monthly general ledger entries to record financial transactions, or reclassifying entries as necessary.
  • Analyze costs and prepare monthly journal entries to record the proper cost of goods sold and representation of inventory balances.
  • Interaction with governmental tax agencies and reporting as required.
  • Support the annual planning process and the year-end audit process.
  • Develop, monitor, and review factory overhead rates.
  • Responsible for compliance and filings with state and federal tax and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor accounting practices for compliance with standard practice, consistency, and GAAP.
  • Responsible for coordination, maintenance, and implementation of financial systems.
  • Troubleshoot and develop solutions for existing financial systems.
  • Investigate, evaluate and implement financial systems
  • Responsible for complying with all safety policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of standard and/or fund accounting principles, methods, and applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Account balancing and reconciling skills.
  • Ability to set up and maintain financial accounts and ledgers.
  • Working knowledge of financial software tools to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
  • Good organization skills

  • High level of accuracy
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite; EXCEL, WORD, Outlook
EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 5 years of experience in manufacturing accounting or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ideal candidate would also possess a CPA, CMA, or other professional certification.
  • Experience using MAPICS, Powerlink or other ERP systems preferred
