The Substitute Technology Support employee provides short-term technology support when regular staff are absent. Serving as a point of contact for students, staff, and parents, this employee helps resolve common hardware and software issues so teaching and school operations can continue. Work is performed in coordination with building technology staff and under the general direction of the Director of Technology. Assignments and priorities may vary by building and day.
Essential Functions- Provide responsive, courteous technical support to students, staff, and parents in person, by phone, or through the district service ticket system.
- Troubleshoot common PC, Chromebook, peripheral, application, and connectivity issues; perform approved basic fixes and elevate issues that require additional access or expertise.
- Assist authorized users with password resets and account access in accordance with district identity verification and security procedures.
- Create, update, and resolve service tickets with clear notes about the issue, steps taken, and any follow-up needed.
- Coordinate with building technology staff to prioritize urgent classroom needs, share status updates, and hand off unresolved work at the end of an assignment.
- Handle district devices, accounts, and student or staff information responsibly and follow applicable district procedures.

KnowledgeSkills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of common PC and Chromebook hardware, operating systems, applications, and basic troubleshooting steps.
- Ability to explain technical steps clearly and patiently to people with different levels of technical experience.
- Ability to document work accurately, manage several requests, and recognize when an issue needs to be escalated.
- Ability to follow established procedures for account access, data privacy, device handling, and safe work practices.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks while collaborating with building staff and the broader technology team.
This work regularly requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force and occasionally up to 50 pounds. It regularly involves speaking or hearing, using hands, and reaching; frequently involves standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling, and repetitive motions; and occasionally involves lifting. Close and distance vision, focus adjustment, depth and color perception, and peripheral vision are required for the work.
The role involves verbal communication, hearing spoken information, preparing and reviewing written or computer data, inspecting small parts, using measuring devices, assembling parts within arm’s length, operating equipment, and observing surroundings.
Work frequently occurs near moving mechanical parts and may occasionally involve high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather, electrical shock hazards, or vibration. The usual noise level is moderate, similar to a business office or light traffic.
Compensation:$20.00 per hour
