A Douglas Machine Inc. Buyer is responsible for supply chain management. This includes, but not limited to, the following: contract management, developing and implementing bids, establishing new sources of supply, consolidating existing sources of supply, managing supply chain improvement projects, and intervening in critical supply chain issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

* Ensure the highest standards are followed according to Douglas Machine's Statement of Supply Chain Ethics.
* Continuously develop skills and knowledge in supply chain management profession.
* Establish confidentiality agreements with suppliers.
* Schedule and lead supplier meetings, which include preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
* Meet with engineers to understand needs and issues and provides follow up communications.
* Manage the development of bid documents for new and existing requirements.
* Lead internal strategy development and supplier negotiations assuring the interests of Douglas Machine Inc. are managed.
* Communicate critical supply issues (delivery, quality, price, etc) to Director of Materials and executive sponsor as needed.
* Develop contracts and agreements with suppliers to reflect negotiated conditions.
* Work with the Sourcing Coordinator to assure the daily and weekly requirements are managed in the best interest of Douglas Machine Inc.
* Work with the Sourcing Coordinator to develop and disseminate the supplier performance data regarding service, quality, and cost.
* Work with Director of Materials to implement improvements in supply management process.
* Participate in the measurement and reporting of cost increases, reductions, and avoidances.
* Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Strong PC knowledge with well-developed MS Office application skills.
* Strong organizational and team building skills.
* Ability to analyze data and write/generate reports.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently or on a team.
* Ability to interact and communicate effectively with persons at all levels within the organization as well as with supplier representatives.
* Capable of managing supply chain related projects to through to completion in a timely manner.
* Minimum of 3-5 years supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Requires moderate to low supervision.
* Has or will work towards a professional certification (CPM, APICS, NAPM, etc.).
* Is a resource for the procurement group on supply chain issues.
