Step into a precision-driven 2nd shift

Picture this: you arrive for your 2nd shift, load the first run, verify offsets, and keep multiple CNC machines humming in sync. You spot a tool wear trend before it becomes an issue, swap inserts, log the change, and keep production flowing—safely, accurately, and efficiently. That's the cadence of our CNC Horizontal Machining Center Setup Specialist.

This position is 2nd shift.

What you'll doSet up and run CNC horizontal machining centers with repeatable precision.

Load/unload fixtures, work holding, cutting tools, and CNC programs for each job.

Tune and adjust cutting tools and offsets to maintain quality.

Follow standardized work, document production/quality data, and escalate issues promptly.

Use and interpret inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions.

Perform routine machine care and basic troubleshooting while adhering to safety protocols.

Pitch in with additional tasks as needed.

What you bring

Education & Training High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical school or vocational coursework in machining/manufacturing/CNC preferred.

NIMS or equivalent CNC machining certification is a plus.

Experience1–3 years operating CNC machines—ideally horizontal machining centers—with proven setup ability.

Hands-on experience adjusting tooling and reading/interpreting CNC programs.

Comfort inspecting parts with precision metrology tools.

Skills Read/interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.

Solid math and mechanical aptitude.

Working knowledge of preventive maintenance and common machine troubleshooting.

Computer literacy for program loading and data entry.

Attributes Detail-obsessed with a quality-first mindset.

Manual dexterity and stamina to handle tools and parts throughout the shift.

Work Environment:

The majority of the time will be inside conditions with protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Some work is achieved near open bays with no control over weather conditions.

There are periodic high noise levels and vibration associated with this job. Sources include: engine noise, air compressors, air powered equipment, and other shop noises. Also there is possibly sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent to cause possible hearing loss.

There are a variety of physical hazards in which there is danger to life, health, or bodily injury, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving equipment, heavy parts, electrical shock, compressed air and exposure to chemicals.

Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work.

Air power tools, electric drill, drill press, grinders (both hand and bench), wrenches, torches, welders, a variety of hand tools, mills, and electric cords.

Must be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally (5 times per day) and/or up to 50lbs. of force frequently (50 times per day) and up to 25 lbs. of force on a regular basis through the day, depending on work related circumstances.

Must be able to lift objects from floor to above shoulder level. Must be able to move objects/parts/tools and equipment from one area to another and one level to another level.

This position includes the following physical demands:

Reaching – extending and pulling the hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction while working with various tools as mentioned before.

Handling - seizing, holding, grasping, turning, pulling, or otherwise working with hands and arms.

Pulling – using arms in such a way as pulling of ttools, wrenches, parts, and equipment to complete the job.

Fingering – picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers primarily (rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling).Feeling – being able to determine objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by means of receptors in skin, particularly those of fingertips.
