Structural Machinist / Peddinghaus Operator
A New Challenge. A New Technology. A Great Opportunity. We're looking for an experienced machinist, CNC operator, or skilled fabricator who is ready for a new challenge and excited to learn cutting-edge technology. This is an opportunity to operate a brand-new, state-of-the-art Peddinghaus structural processing system that brings 3D machining technology to structural steel fabrication. This is not a "push-button" operator position.
We're looking for someone who wants to understand the technology, solve problems, optimize processes, and become a key resource for this new system. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and set up a new-generation Peddinghaus structural processing system.
- Learn and apply advanced 3D machining and structural steel processing techniques.
- Interpret 3D models, shop drawings, fabrication information, and digital production data.
- Verify material, dimensions, tooling, programs, and processing requirements.
- Perform machine setup and make appropriate adjustments to optimize production.
- Monitor machining operations and inspect finished components for accuracy and quality.
- Troubleshoot machining, programming, tooling, and material-processing issues.
- Work with engineering and fabrication teams to resolve production challenges.
- Help develop procedures, processes, and best practices for the new system.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and machine utilization.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Take ownership of the equipment and become a go-to resource for its operation.
Why This is Different You won't be inheriting someone else's routine and spending your day repeating the same process. You'll have the opportunity to learn a new technology, help shape the process, and build expertise that will be increasingly valuable as structural fabrication moves toward digital and 3D manufacturing. The ideal candidate has a machinist's mindset - mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, curious, and someone who enjoys figuring out how things work and how to make them better.
Experience with CNC machining, structural steel, Peddinghaus equipment, machine setup, or fabrication is strongly preferred. Experience with 3D modeling or digital manufacturing is preferred, but we're willing to train the right person. If you're the kind of person who sees a new machine and thinks, "I want to figure out what this thing can really do," we'd like to talk to you.
