Job Description

The EH&S Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the LGC Environmental Health and Safety programs and working with the EHS Director and EHS staff to implement processes and systems in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and Company policies, strategies, initiatives and goals. This position will be responsible for coordinating (1) with laboratories, research spaces, and operational areas to support day-to-day safety needs, (2) facility safety inspections and associated corrective actions and (3) the monthly safety committee meetings.

This position reports to the EHS Director.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to capably perform each of the following essential duties:

  • Stocking GHS and Hazardous waste labels and PPE
  • Inspection of containers and drums for grounding/bonding and procedural compliance
  • Participate in the Health and Safety Inspection process
  • Lead Job Hazard Analysis completion
  • Lead EHS-related documentation creation and maintenance processes
  • Participate in Monthly Safety meetings
  • Participate in Spill Response team
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly inspections and reports
  • Chemical inventory auditing
  • Monitor workplace safety conditions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EH&S regulations and standards
  • Partner with the Site Director and site management team to facilitate the implementation of EH&S policies, procedures, and practices
  • Maintains EH&S records, forms, and documents to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Stock EH&S supplies throughout company
  • Perform monthly checks on emergency equipment (eye-wash/safety-shower, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting)
  • Perform other duties as required, or assigned by management, to meet business needs.
Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
    -or- high school diploma with a minimum of two years industry experience.
  • Good understanding of laboratory safety, chemical safety and general safety practices.
  • The ability to learn new material quickly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and daily responsibilities.

Work Conditions AND Environment

  • Travel & Time Expectations: This position is expected to work Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm. This position may be required to occasionally work evening or weekend hours in support of business needs.
  • Work Setting: Primarily an office setting with manufacturing exposure.
  • Distinctive Safety Conditions: e.g., Exposure to hazards or physical risks (hazardous materials, noise level, etc.) or any illnesses, which require particular safety precautions and specific occupational training or cannot effectively be removed from the job.
