Overview

Kforce has a client that is seeking an Accounting Specialist in Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Prepare trial balances and support the preparation of financial statements
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
  • Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments
  • Manage customer invoicing, cash receipts, and collections
  • Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable sub-ledgers
Bank & Account Reconciliations
  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Payroll & Benefits Support
  • Process payroll on a regular schedule, including deductions and garnishments
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements
  • Maintain payroll records and respond to employee payroll inquiries
Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare internal financial reports for management
  • Maintain organized financial records to support audits and tax filings
  • Coordinate with external CPAs, payroll providers, and tax professionals
Additional Duties
  • Track fixed assets and maintain depreciation schedules
  • Assist with budgeting and cash-flow tracking
  • Support process improvements and accounting system maintenance
Requirements
  • Quick Books experience - strong
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Able to manage up and work effectively with senior leadership (reporting to CFO/Managing Director)
  • Good common sense and practical habits; knows when to ask questions but can take initiative
Compensation

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
