Project Accountant

Pizzano Contractors, a leading commercial general contractor serving the DC metro area since 1958, is looking for a Project Accountant to join our team in Old Town Alexandria. We specialize in high-quality interior build-outs and renovations—and we do Whatever It Takes to get the job done right.

As a Project Accountant, you'll work closely with our Project Managers and accounting team to ensure financial accuracy, maintain project budgets, and support overall project performance.

• Prepare, review, and process owner and subcontractor billings in compliance with contract terms.
• Maintain accurate project cost records and job cost reports.
• Assist Project Managers with budget updates, forecasting, and cost analysis.
• Process subcontractor invoices and verify lien waivers and compliance documentation.
• Monitor and manage project cash flow, including tracking receivables and payables.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and variance analyses for assigned projects.
• Support project closeout processes to ensure all financial records are complete and accurate.
• Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve billing or financial issues.
• Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.
• Track project costs and assist in WIP (Work-In-Progress) reporting
• Help improve accounting processes and financial reporting

• Experience with Sage 300 CRE (Timberline)
• Experience with Procore (or other construction management software)
• Understanding of construction accounting and job costing
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
