Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The Senior Accountant will support travel and expense activities for executive leadership, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient processing.

This is a hybrid position based in Alexandria, VA, paying $42.09 per hour. It is a full‑time, contract position requiring onsite presence Monday–Thursday in Alexandria, VA, with Fridays remote.

Responsibilities
  • Provide end-to-end support for executive travel and expense processing, auditing, and reporting
  • Review, audit, and process expense submissions for accuracy, policy compliance, proper coding, and documentation
  • Perform corporate card reconciliations, including matching transactions, resolving discrepancies, and following up
  • Build and maintain Excel-based trackers, reconciliation files, and reports (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data validation)
  • Analyze travel and expense trends, identify variances, anomalies, and suggest process improvements
  • Work within ERP and expense/finance systems to research transactions and support reporting
  • Collaborate with executives, admins, finance, and vendors to resolve issues professionally
  • Support month-end close activities related to travel, expense, and corporate card programs
  • Support a large transportation organization with a focus on accuracy and discretion
Qualifications
  • Ability to work onsite Monday–Thursday in Alexandria, VA; remote Fridays only
  • Demonstrated experience supporting C‑suite executive travel and expense
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data cleanup)
  • Hands‑on experience with corporate card reconciliations
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion, People Soft, or Net Suite
  • High standards for accuracy and compliance
  • Strong ownership, follow‑through, and ability to handle sensitive information discretely
  • Organized and process‑driven, able to manage multiple stakeholders
