Audit & Tax Manager Position Details:
Location:Alexandria, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation:85,000 – 130,000, DOE
Work Schedule:Hybrid work schedule after introductory period Minimum three days per week in the Alexandria office
Thompson, Hughes & Trollinger, PLLC is seeking an experienced Audit & Tax Manager to lead client engagements across both audit and tax while working directly with firm leadership in a collaborative CPA firm.
We're looking for an experienced CPA who enjoys the variety of public accounting, values long-term client relationships, and wants the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. You'll lead engagements, mentor staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individuals throughout the DC Metro Area, with a potential path to firm partnership for the right candidate.
What We're Looking For- Active CPA license
- Eight or more years of public accounting experience with significant audit and tax experience
- Experience leading audit engagements from planning through completion
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, federal income taxation, and current accounting standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- Commitment to exceptional client service, professional integrity, and continuous improvement
- Lead audit, review, and agreed-upon procedures engagements from planning through completion
- Review business, nonprofit, fiduciary, and individual income tax returns
- Provide tax planning and consulting services
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client engagements and maintain trusted client relationships
- Manage engagement budgets, staffing, scheduling, and workflow
- Mentor, coach, and develop professional staff
- Research complex accounting and tax matters while providing technical guidance
- Partner with firm leadership to strengthen client relationships and continuously improve client service
