What This Job is About:

The Senior Accountant at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy is a pivotal member of the finance team, reporting directly to the Controller. This role will contribute to the accuracy of financial records, support regulatory compliance, and play an essential role in the organization's financial stability. The Senior Accountant will work collaboratively with other finance professionals and cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity of financial data.

More specifically, key responsibilities include:

  • Record and verify financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and other journal entries.
  • Manage and monitor Accounts Payable (AP) through the online platform, Concur, to ensure that all invoices are processed in a timely and correct manner.
  • Update the cash flow report for AMCP and AMCPF and assist in day-to-day cash flow management.
  • Manage and monitor Accounts Receivable (AR) through the membership database (Fonteva/Salesforce) and follow up on outstanding AR.
  • Generate and issue customer invoices through Fonteva/Salesforce; post payments and reconcile customer accounts.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations, to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Maintain deferred revenue schedules and prepare revenue recognition entries for membership dues, programs, and sponsor ships.
  • Maintain the fixed asset schedule, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposal entries.
  • Conduct financial analysis, prepare reports, and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Assist in the year-end closing process and support internal and external audits as a key accounting contact; prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor inquiries, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and file forms 1099 and 1096.
  • Set up new employees in Concur and train staff on how to use the system.
  • Collaborate with vendors, verify invoices, and address financial inquiries.
  • Provide support to staff across the organization on invoices, financial coding, and budget-related questions.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of the Sage Intacct accounting system, including process documentation and data integrity.
  • Participate in special projects and other financial initiatives as directed by the Controller and/or the Chief Financial and Administration Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 3-5 years’ experience working for a not-for-profit. Prior use of automated accounting systems is required. Knowledge and use of the following software packages are preferred in addition to skills and abilities:

  • Sage Intacct – accounting system.
  • Concur – expense reporting, invoicing, and payment processing.
  • Fonteva/Salesforce - membership database.
  • Prophix – financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
