Financial Reporting, Senior Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join a collaborative accounting team. This role is responsible for supporting the month-end close process, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in corporate accounting, advanced Excel skills, and experience working in a fast-paced business environment.
Candidates with experience in retail, property management, hospitality, or other service-based industries are strongly preferred.
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Research and resolve account discrepancies and unusual variances.
- Analyze financial data and provide explanations for fluctuations in account balances.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of accounting records in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist with accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other general ledger activities.
- Work closely with internal departments to obtain information and resolve accounting questions.
- Support internal and external audit requests.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
- Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
- Experience with Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze financial data and explain account variances
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Corporate accounting experience within retail, hospitality, property management, consumer services, or other service-based industries
- Candidates from nonprofit or government accounting backgrounds will not be considered for this opportunity
